ABOUT

SAVAGE SOCCER

Savage Soccer is a Christian-based youth soccer program for kids ages 3 to 13. Kids encounter fun, purposeful training led by former professional soccer player, Keith Savage, while learning the game of soccer and Biblical principles. Savage Soccer combines physical strength, athletic skills, mental tenacity and spiritual muscle to train savage—both on and off the soccer field. Savage Soccer offers an 8-week youth soccer league for kids ages 3-11 in the spring and fall, as well as a weeklong summer camp for kids ages 7-13.

Savage Soccer started as a Savage family tradition of soccer games around the holidays and t-shirts for family and friends. In 2019, it officially launched as a Skycrest Christian School program to encourage kids to be active, teach them soccer skills, and most importantly, to point them to Jesus.

We have the most incredible team of loving, knowledgeable soccer coaches and volunteers! Our coaching team consists primarily of former college soccer players and those who have/are currently coaching at the high school level. Their passion for both soccer and Jesus is contagious!

Train Savage. Play Savage!

Our goal is to point kids to a love of soccer, equip them with skills to succeed on the field, but mostly to point them to Jesus—who loves them deeply and gives them great significance.

We emphasize combining physical strength, soccer skills, mental tenacity and spiritual muscle to train “savage”—both on and off the soccer field. Each session will teach a “soccer skill” and a “significant skill”. Soccer skills point kids to greater success on the field; significant skills point kids to Biblically-based concepts valuable on and beyond the field (work ethic, servant leadership, self-control, respect, and others). Most significant skills do not come naturally, and like soccer skills, they must be taught, trained and practiced often.

“The difference between success and significance was life-changing for me. For most of my life, my highest goal was to play professional soccer and to be successful. Shortly after my final college season, I was selected to play for Chivas USA in Major League Soccer. There were several peaks and valleys in my pursuit of success as a pro. I realized, however, at my highest peak of success, what I craved most wasn’t actually success, but significance—not the worldly self-seeking significance rooted in pride, but a relationship with Jesus Christ and to forever play and train with purpose for His glory.”
